Where’s your get up and go? Finding your Summer time Mojo
So, we are at the end of winter – the cold nights and mornings are almost gone for another year and so too has your excuse for hibernation!
GET UP AND GO!
Spring is in the air – the sun is rising earlier and now is the time to get your routine into gear and prepare for all the glorious warm weather ahead. Aussie summers are notoriously warm and that means swimming and hanging out where the water is. And that in turn means…..shorts, tees and swimwear!
Getting into a routine is your starting point – and making time for exercise is paramount. Early risers benefit from cooler mornings – and often less crowded walkways, paths and beaches.
Here are my TOP THREE TIPS for getting back into it – and getting it back!
- Pick and activity that you LIKE to do. If you hate running – don’t run – you are only setting yourself up for failure. Pick someone you like to play with to keep you on track. A neighbor or someone who lives close by is a great option. That way you reduce time “travelling” to wherever you plan to meet. Remember – you want this to be achievable and time efficient.
- Make the alarm clock your new best friend and put it away from the bed so you have to get up to it. No reaching out for the snooze button!! Set it for the SAME TIME every morning too. This will help your body to adjust to your new routine.
- Have your gear ready to go – runners, socks, and all the other clothing and items for your selected activity (heart rate monitor / pedometer /water bottle/ towel) should be put out the night before to ensure you don’t waste valuable time searching for socks! Right – so now we have all the “stuff” – let’s go!
Whilst many of us use the excuse that we are not “morning people” this is something we have told ourselves or been conditioned to. But by rising a little earlier and fitting in some exercise you can reap the rewards including:
- Feeling ENERGISED for the whole day
- Reducing appetite
- Exercising in the morning means that is done for the day! So if during your day the unexpected pops up – your exercise schedule won’t be affected.
- Grabbing the opportunity for either peaceful time to your self – or time to catch up with your training partner.
Planning is the key and routine is your gateway to a fitter, healthier you.
Unlock those gates and get cracking! Your Mojo is waiting for you.
